Panajachel
The locals have nicknamed Panajachel as "gringotenango" because of the abundance of foreigners here. This small town is located 150 km from the capital, on the shores of Atitlan Lake. The volcanoes shrouded in clouds that surround the lake, and fast mountain rivers give the landscape a unique beauty. There is a marina of pleasure boats on the lake, and you can use one to sweep across the lake and enjoy the surrounding nature.
There are no historically valuable ruins and monuments in Panajachel. The main charm of the city is its location on the shores of beautiful Atitlan Lake. So tourists come here just to relax: to take a walk on the hot streets, to sweep across the lake, to stock up a portion of souvenirs and to recognize the exotic cuisine of Guatemala.
The main street of Panajachel is Santander Street. On both sides of it there are shops and trays with different specialties that can satisfy the taste of any traveler.
