Acapulco

Acapulco, the most famous resort in the country, is situated on the banks of the beautiful bays. The Spaniards founded the city in the XVI century, and for 300 years it was the gateway to the Far East. In the 1940s President Miguel Aleman chose Acapulco as the first resort of Mexico. Soon after, the city was visited by Hollywood celebrities such as John Wayne, Errol Flynn and Elizabeth Taylor. Later rise hotels appeared there.

Whatever your tastes, Acapulco offers a great climate and a lively atmosphere in a striking landscape. It is always crowded on the beaches of the city, and they offer a variety of entertainment – from paragliding to water-skiing and sailing.

The beaches of Caleta, Caletilla and Pie de la Cuesta are the most popular. They are perfect for family holidays. There are no high waves and beaches are well equipped. Compared with the Caribbean coast of the sea the water of here has a darker color and the sand is yellow-gray.

It will be interesting to visit Acapulco Cathedral built in the Art Nouveau style, the castle Capilla la Paz, which is built on a high hill near the forty-meter cross, the Museum of Archaeology, the National Park Papagayo with lakes and water park. A fascinating walk may be riding on a boat with a glass bottom.

Every tourist would have to look at the famous divers of La Quebrada. Their midday and evening performances are truly breathtaking.
