Description

You will visit the cities, built by the Spaniards in the great age of discovery and conquest of the New World. Mexico will share with you the history and sights of Puebla will surprise you with views of volcanoes lying nearly. You’ll visit to Veracruz – Mexico's largest modern port, which is based on the site of landing of Hernan Cortes, Spanish conquistador; you’ll see Catemaco, the home of the Mexican sorcerers; you’ll visit to hectic Villahermosa, and Campeche, a city of sea pirates, and, of course, snow-white and elegant Merida. You will visit the world-famous resort of Cancun with its luxurious hotels; you’ll enjoy the warm turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea and relax on white coral sand beaches.

You will touch the history of ancient civilizations of Mesoamerica. It is famous Olmec civilization, the earliest known to science, which discovered the calendars, the system of of the Long Count, the most precise astronomical knowledge and the morphemic-hieroglyphic script! The legendary Mayan, Aztecs, Teotiuhacanians and other unknown tribes have cut up for us the magnificent cities with amazing architecture and many mysteries. Teotihuacan, Tenochtitlan, La Venta, Palenque, Chichen Itza are waiting for you.

Day 1. Mexico City

Arrival to the airport in Mexico City. Meeting at the airport, transfer and accommodation at the hotel "Casa Blanca" 4* or the similar. Briefing with a Russian-speaking guide about the program.

Free time.

Day 2. A panoramic tour of the Mexico City and the pyramids of Teotihuacan

Breakfast at the hotel.

The visit of the city's main square Zocalo, the Cathedral, the Palace of President with murals by Diego Rivera, in which he narrates the history of Mexico from pre-Columbian times to the XX century. You will see the ruins of the pyramid Templo Mayor and hear the story of the bloody sacrifices of the Aztecs. Further, the way lies to the Pyramids of the Sun and the Moon in Teotihuacan. The unknown and powerful civilization began a new era, currently baffling the scientists and researchers with high level of knowledge of mathematics and astronomy...

On the way back you will visit the place of pilgrimage of all Catholics of the world (the second after Vatican) – The Shrine of the Virgin of Guadalupe, which had taken under the protection the indigenous people of America.

Return to the hotel. Free time.

Day 3. Mexico – Puebla – Veracruz (400 km)

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure from the hotel.

On the road to Puebla you can enjoy two magnificent volcanoes: Popocatepetl (altitude 5645 m, an active volcano) and Iztaccihuatl (altitude 5230 m, an extinct volcano). Arrival to the City of Angels, Puebla. It is protected by UNESCO as an outstanding cultural heritage of mankind. A brief tour of the center of city.

Departure to Veracruz. Arrival to Veracruz. Accommodation at the hotel "Calinda Veracruz" 4* or the similar.

Day 4. Veracruz – Catemaco – Villahermosa (500 km)

Breakfast. Departure from the hotel.

A visit to the village of shamans on Catemaco Island (at extra cost).

Arrival to Villahermosa.

Accommodation at the hotel "Maya Tabasco" 4 * or the similar.

Day 5. Villahermosa – La Venta – Misol-Ha – Palenque (250 km)

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure from the hotel.

A visit to the open-air museum "La Venta", where you can see a collection of artifacts left by the great Olmec civilization. Weird and wonderful monuments... Multi-ton basalt heads with significant Negroid characteristics, which could be the stone portraits of the rulers; amazing and giving rise to a number of interpretations, relief of "Man in the snake"; relief "Pedestrian", on which the person is dressed in tight trousers not used in these lands. The pedestrian with a beard does not look like the natives, who did not have any hair on their faces. And that's a relief depicting the meeting of the two races, one of wich is surely the white race. Here you can see too a statue of a monkey, which threw back its head, covered its legs with delight and horror looking at the sky...

A visit to the impressive waterfall – Misol-Ha. You can take a dip here.

Arrival to Palenque and accommodation at the hotel "Ciudad Real" 4 * or the similar.

Day 6. Palenque – archaeological site of Palenque – Campeche (325 km)

Breakfast at the hotel.

The ancient city of Palenque is a gem of Mayan architecture! White lacy ridges of the temples on the background of green hills rise silently into the blue sky. Impeccably inscribed to the emerald landscape buildings of the city are the evidence of great skill and taste of the ancient Mayas. Impressive palaces and pyramids, in one of which the buried ruler of the city – Pacal was found. The image on the cover of the sarcophagus caused the endless controversy of scientists. The famous Swiss researcher Erich von Daniken saw on the cover of the sarcophagus an astronaut, "huddling on the pedal". Other researchers have also seen the traces of extraterrestrial civilizations in some pictures on the walls of temples.

Arrival to Campeche, a colonial city built for defense against pirates. It is also in the UNESCO list. You can see the city going on the tram (at extra cost).

Accommodation at the hotel "Plaza Campeche" 4 * or the similar.

Day 7. Campeche – Uxmal – Merida (260 km)

Breakfast. Departure from the hotel.

A visit to the archaeological site of Uxmal. It’s one of the most magnificent Mayan cities. The city was once a powerful outpost that defended Mayas from Yucatecan of the attacks of the barbarians. "Built for three times" is the translation of the name of the city. You will see an oval Wizard's pyramid, the Palace of monks, the House of turtles, etc.

Departure to Merida, a wonderful colonial city of the Middle Ages.

A tour through the city center, down the Francisco Montejo Street, where the luxury residences in the European style are situated.

Accommodation at the hotel "El Conquistador" 4 * or the similar.

Day 8. Merida – Chichen Itza – Cenote Ik Kil – Cancun (320 km)

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure from the hotel.

A visit to the archaeological site of Chichen Itza, the magnificent creation of the Mayan-Toltec architecture. Here you will see the famous Pyramid of Kukulcan – Feathered Serpent, which has become one of the new Seven Wonders of the World. You’ll look around the stadium for a ball game, where the Toltecs and Mayas played and where the loss was equal to death; and the famous cenote – the "well of victims", where inhabitants of Chichen Itza dumped people of 20- meter-high, bringing them to sacrifice to the god of rain...

On the way to Cancun – a visit to the Cenote Ik Kil, the karst well with clean water. Swimming in it.

Arrival to Cancun. Accommodation in different hotels.
