Description

The ancient tribes who inhabited the territory of Mexico have cut up for us the magnificent cities with amazing architecture, concealing many things unsolved. Teotihuacan and Tenochtitlan, Monte Alban and Palenque, Uxmal and Chichen Itza, declared in 2007 as one of the new seven wonders of the world – they are waiting for you and are willing to share their secrets!

On the way to the monuments of ancient culture you will also familiarize with the colonial cities – Oaxaca, San Cristobal de las Casas, Campeche and Merida. You will visit the world-famous resort of Cancun with its luxury hotels and you’ll have a good swim in the warm turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea, you’ll relax in the white coral sand beaches under the palm umbrellas!

Day 1. Mexico City

Arrival to the airport in Mexico City. Meeting at the airport, transfer and hotel accommodation "Casa Blanca" 4 * or the similar. Briefing with a Russian-speaking guide about the program.

Free time.

Day 2. A panoramic tour of Mexico city and the pyramids of Teotihuacan

Breakfast at the hotel.

The visit of the city's main square Zocalo, the Cathedral, the Palace of President with murals by Diego Rivera, in which he narrates the history of Mexico from pre-Columbian times to the XX century. You will see the ruins of the pyramid Templo Mayor and hear the story of the bloody sacrifices of the Aztecs. Further, the way lies to the Pyramids of the Sun and the Moon in Teotihuacan. The unknown and powerful civilization began a new era, currently baffling the scientists and researchers with high level of knowledge of mathematics and astronomy...

On the way back you will visit the place of pilgrimage of all Catholics of the world (the second after Vatican) – the Srine of the Virgin of Guadalupe, which had taken under the protection the indigenous people of America.

Return to the hotel. Free time.

Day 3. Mexico – Puebla – Oaxaca (460 km)

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure from the hotel.

On the road to Puebla you can enjoy two magnificent volcanoes: Popocatepetl (altitude 5645 m, an active volcano) and Iztaccihuatl (altitude 5230 m, an extinct volcano). Arrival to the City of Angels, Puebla. It is protected by UNESCO as an outstanding cultural heritage of mankind. A brief tour of the center of city.

Departure to Oaxaca. On the way you will see the highest peak of Mexico – Orizaba peak 5747 m of height. Arrival to Oaxaca. Accommodation at the hotel "Aitana" 4*.

In the evening – the stroll through the historic center of Oaxaca, the gem of colonial cities.

Day 4. Oaxaca – Monte Alban – Tule – Tehuantepec (290 km)

The visit of the archaeological site of Monte Alban, which is in the UNESCO World Heritage list. Zapotec Civilization, masters of the craniotomy, is another mysterious tribe of Mesoamerica, disappeared into nowhere...

The visit of the town of Tule, where the biggest tree of the world grows: 40 men holding hands can embrace the trunk of it. The tree is 1400 years old!

Arrival to Tehuantepec, accommodation in the hotel "Calli" 3 * or the similar.

Day 5. Tehuantepec – Sumidero Canyon – San Cristobal de las Casas (380 km)

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure from the hotel.

A visit to the canyon Sumidero. You’re invited to heed the boat trip on the deep river Grijalva, where the crocodiles live, and in the surrounding woods the screaming of spider monkeys can be heard. Rocky cliffs rise up into the sky to a height of 1200 m! An unforgettable experience!

Arrive to the colonial city of San Cristobal de las Casas. The tumultuous events of the history barely touched it. The church of the XVI century; the colonial architecture; the Indians who do not want to change their traditional dress on European clothing, selling local handicrafts; the sounds of the marimba – the xylophone local – all this sets up a philosophical mood.

Day 6. San Cristobal de las Casas – San Juan Chamula – Misol-Ha – Palenque (225 km)

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure from the hotel.

Do you want to see the descendants of the famous Maya? Welcome to the town of San Juan Chamula, the place of residence of one of the branches of the Maya – tzotzil tribe, managed up to keep their traditions, way of life, language, continuing even wear clothes of their ancestors. Tzotzils showed some flexibility, being able to bring the Catholic principles to their own foundations. How does it happen in practice? Watch with us! But remember that you cannot take pictures. After all, you can take their soul with the pictures...

A visit to the impressive waterfall – Misol-Ha. You can take a dip here.

Arriving to Palenque and accommodation "Ciudad Real" 4 * or similar.

Day 7. Palenque – archaeological site of Palenque – Campeche (245 km)

Breakfast at the hotel.

The ancient city of Palenque is a gem of Mayan architecture! White lacy ridges of the temples on the background of green hills rise silently into the blue sky. Impeccably inscribed to the emerald landscape buildings of the city are the evidence of great skill and taste of the ancient Mayas. Impressive palaces and pyramids, in one of which the buried ruler of the city – Pacal was found. The image on the cover of the sarcophagus caused the endless controversy of scientists. The famous Swiss researcher Erich von Daniken saw on the cover of the sarcophagus an astronaut, "huddling on the pedal". Other researchers have also seen the traces of extraterrestrial civilizations in some pictures on the walls of temples.

Arrival to Campeche, a colonial city built for defense against pirates. It is also in the UNESCO list. You can see the city going on the tram (at extra cost).

Day 8. Campeche – Uxmal – Merida (260 km)

A visit to the archaeological site of Uxmal. It’s one of the most magnificent Mayan cities. The city was once a powerful outpost that defended Yucatec Maya of the attacks of the barbarians. "Built for three times" is the translation of the name of the city. You will see an oval Wizard's pyramid, the Palace of monks, the House of turtles, etc.

Departure to Merida, a wonderful colonial city of the Middle Ages.

A tour through the city center, down the Francisco Montejo Street, where the luxury residences in the European style are situated.

Accommodation at the hotel "El Conquistador" 4* or the similar.

Day 9. Merida – Chichen Itza – Cenote Ik Kil – Cancun (320 km)

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure from the hotel.

A visit to the archaeological site of Chichen Itza, the magnificent creation of the Mayan-Toltec architecture. Here you will see the famous Pyramid of Kukulcan – Feathered Serpent, which has become one of the new Seven Wonders of the World. You’ll look around the stadium for a ball game, where the Toltecs and Mayas played and where the loss was equal to death; and the famous cenote – the "well of victims", where inhabitants of Chichen Itza dumped people of 20- meter-high, bringing them to sacrifice to the god of rain...

On the way to Cancun – a visit to the Cenote Ik Kil, the karst well with clean water. Swimming in it.

Arrival to Cancun. Accommodation in different hotels.
