Cayo Santa Maria is located 30 km from the northern coast of Villa Clara province, in the central part of the country, and washed by the Gulf of Buenavista. It is one of 500 small islands that make up the archipelago of Jardines del Rey. The island surface is about 1300 km², it is located in the midst of the crystal clear waters and in the northern part adjoins the coral reef, the second largest on the planet. It is the last of the islands on the route through the Gulf of Buenavista, it’s also called "White Rose of Royal Gardens".
