Coyoacan and Xochimilco

Coyoacan. This area is fascinating, it attracts with its atmosphere of antiquity, it still retaines the style of Spanish domination. You’ll go for a stroll through the narrow streets of Coyoacan, you’ll admire the ancient buildings of Spanish conquerors, and visit the churches of John the Baptist and of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary built in XVI-XVII century. You’ll taste the famous and delicious "Nieve de Coyoacan" (frozen fruit juice). Not for nothing the actors and artists, the writers and poets had chosen the district of Coyoacan as their residence.
You will visit the Museum-house of Soviet revolutionary Leon Trotsky and the house of the famous Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. The fates of these two outstanding and such different persons entwined on Mexican land. The way of life and atmosphere of their time survived in these houses. Our tour will help you to feel the love, suffering, pain and joy, to touch to their fate.
Then you will go by the gondola like boat – "trajineras" on the canals of the Lake Xochimilco, listening to the music of mariachis in live. You will learn how the Aztecs built the "chinampas" – floating gardens on which to this day locals continue to grow crops.
