Temazcal

The word "temazcal" comes from the Nahuatl and means "house of steam". In fact, it’s an indigenous steam bath, based on the use of steam and aromatic herbs. The volcanic stones for the temazcal are heated outside the installations, and their number during procedure depends on the desired temperature and the type of ceremony. The procedure in temazcal is conducted with the gestures, prayers, and songs of temazkalero - the person who leads the procedure, because whether or no the temazcal cleansing is aimed to restore the ties of each participant with the Earth and to awake his ancestral memory.

Temazcal stimulates the lymphatic system, helps to cleanse the body of toxins, to lose some weight; it improves the condition of skin, respiratory tract, nervous system, helps with bones and muscles problems. It is credited with other healing effects, but we must not forget that the procedure has a list of contraindications.
