Description

The sights of the capital of Ukraine are the real treasure of the world's history and culture. The majestic monasteries and cathedrals of Kiev are considered to be the real guides of Orthodox culture. Take a look at the mosaics and frescoes of St. Sophia Cathedral (1037), which is now cataloged by UNESCO, walk on the area of Bessarabska Square, of Independence Square, go along Khreschatyk, go through the Golden Gate, have a look at the Mariyinsky Park.

Modern Kiev is interesting too. It’s the most populous city in Ukraine. Despite the long history, the capital doesn’t stop to develop.

A panoramic tour of Kiev will give you a great opportunity to get acquainted with the ancient city. A professional guide will begin the story about Kiev on one of the hills of the city where it began its history − on St. Volodymyr's Hill. It was named in honor of Prince Volodymyr who had christened the Kievan Rus. The hill, according to the chronicles, was the place where three brothers Kyi, Scheck and Khoryv and their sister Lybid fonded the city in 482 AD. Here you will see the reconstruction of the foundation of the Church of the Tithes, the church with a long and tragic history: it was built by Prince Vladimir in the late tenth century, then in 1240 destroyed by the Tatars and forgotten for several centuries, until the early nineteenth century, when received a second birth. However, during the Soviet era, like many other churches, the Church of the Tithes was demolished, and got a chance to exist again at the beginning of the twenty-first century.

From ancient Kiev you will go to the modern city, visiting the famous National Opera of Ukraine (the building was constructed in 1901), National University of Kiev (1837-1843). You will pass over the central and the world-famous street − Khreschatyk and learn a lot about its history. You will see the Friendship of Nations Arch, located in a park on the right bank of the Dnieper River, and enjoy the view which one can see from there of the Dnieper River and one of the oldest districts of Kiev.

The tour ends at the Museum of the Second World War. The exhibition of military equipment id in its location.
