On October 10, 1868 public-spirited lawyer Carlos Manuel de Céspedes on the farm Demajagua freed his slaves and put the weapons into the hands of Cubans. It initiated the revolution for national liberation of Cuba and the so-called Ten-year War, which was the first of three in the history of Cuban people in the second half of the 19th century.
Every year, Mexico welcomes the Monarch Danaus, which comes here for wintering. By late October, individuals of the east of the Rocky Mountains of Canada and United States migrate in the majority to the Biosphere Reserve "Mariposa Monarca" (Monarch Butterfly Reserve) which is located in the Mexican state of Michoacan. But in other places of Mexico this orange-black beauty can be found too.
