Boca Chica

This beachfront resort is located more close than others to Santo Domingo, so on the weekend it attracts a lot of families from the capital. There are a couple of hotels in the city, but the majority of them are located on the coast in Juan Dolio.

The beach of Boca Chica is about 3 km. In the past, Boca Chica was a small fishing village, located inside the ancient center of the sugarcane fields. The problem related to electricity and water supply − the problems of the whole country – hardly ever appear here, and it improves more than once the quality of your stay in the Dominican Republic.

The main advantage of Boca Chica is its natural coral barrier 500 meters in length. Thanks to this barrier the beach of Boca Chica is considered to be the largest natural Caribbean lagoon, while remaining fully protected from the vivid waves of Caribbean Sea.

Those who want to travel a bit, exploring the outskirts, should swim to the beaches of Los Pinos nearby of Boca Chica (it’s an artificial island created in the 50’s of the last century) and ones of La Matica, uninhabited island, completely overgrown with exotic trees, and the place of habitat for several species of birds, including gulls, egrets and even pelicans. Dense thickets and mangroves will take you into the mysterious world of Robinson Crusoe.
