You’ll remember for long time the hourney to the Rio Dulce, which translated from Spanish means "Sweet River". It flows out of Izabal Lake and goes directly into the Caribbean Sea. In place where the river leaves the lake there is the Spanish fortress of San Felipe (XVI century), raised here to protect the expanses of Izabal Lake from the enemy ships of pirates of the Caribbean.
