Description

The city of Puerto Vallarta is located in the center of a wide Banderas Bay and is surrounded by cliffs and mountains covered by dense jungle. Prior to the 60s of last the century it was a remote fishing village, which was rarely marked on the map.

Impetus for the development of tourism here was given by Hollywood director John Huston who shot the movie "The night of the iguana" with Ava Gardner and Richard Burton near Puerto Vallarta. The village has become associated with a particular exotic. Today it is one of the most popular Mexican resorts with excellent beaches, mild climate which attracts younger tourists, more bohemian ones.

Now every year 1.5 million tourists gather in this place to enjoy the beautiful beaches, pleasant climate and a lively nightlife. The resort stretches along the coast of the Banderas Bay for 40 km.

Cozy Colonial city with cobblestone streets, Puerto Vallarta was founded in 1851. The old part of it still retains its original Mexican charm. Today its picturesque old buildings with tiled roofs harmoniously adjoin the modern hotels. The city is famous for its nightlife and discos are sufficient here. In addition to shopping and restaurants, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the mountains with bright green vegetation.

Golf and tennis, yachting, water sports from parasailing to water-skiing and underwater fishing are offered here. Polo on donkeys and riding horses along the coast are also popular among tourists.
